  • Pain or pins and needles down the arm
  • The feeling that your head is too heavy

If you answered YES to ANY of the above, then you may have suffered a:

The neck is comprised of small joints called vertabrae. They support the head on top of the neck. A whiplash injury can occur when travelling in a vehicle when it suddenly stops or when it has been hit by another vehicle. Forces move the trunk underneath the head and an oscillator motion can move the neck and head. This trauma can effect the vertabrae, ligaments and muscles.

What can you do?

  • Rest
  • Use a towel wrapped around your neck to support it (a rolled up newspaper will do)
  • Seek urgent medical help. You may need to go for an immediate x-ray.
  • See your physiotherapist as soon as you can.
